Sequelas do Halloween

                                                                                  Halloween

Halloween is a tradition that has been around for a long time. Although nowadays it is focused on funny or scary costumes and trick-or-treating, it has its origin in the Celtic culture. They lighted bonfires and wore costumes to ward off ghosts.
To honour this special day (as well as have a reason to celebrate), miss Lourenço had the brilliant idea of turning the teachers’ lounge into the perfect haunted, yet cute, nook to boost morale and give the teachers a much-deserved treat. In order to accomplish this (which we must say was no piece of cake), the 9C and 7D/E came together and pulled through during the week prior to the event. Some students were in charge of the decorations, others of the food and drinks but we all had one thing in common: the excitement and anticipation…we couldn’t wait to see the looks on the teachers and the school staff’s faces when presented with our “little” project.
On the actual day, it went even better than we could have imagined. As we entered the room, we could smell the sweet scent of burning candles; there was not a single spot of the lounge that was not decorated with the big scary spider, witch brooms and a multitude of other Halloween-related stickers and cut-outs; not to mention the magnificent witch hat cupcakes, croissants and the ghost-themed cake.
Some of the teachers and students, involved in the Friendly Maths [Erasmus+] project stopped by to take part in the celebration, which was a pleasant surprise for us because we had the opportunity to know students from other countries and learn more about their cultures.

Overall, it was a Halloween wonderland and the faces of the teachers and school staff were worth all the effort.
